FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES
HISTORY The faculty of social sciences started as a twin sister of Arts and Social
Sciences in the 2001/2002 academic year. The pioneering departments include Economics, Political science, Psychology, Sociology, History, English, Languages and linguistics.The Faculty witnessed expansion with an additional three departments namelyÇhristian Religious Studies, Arabic Studies and Islamic Religious studies
The actua; birth of the Faculty of Social Science took place when the split of the twin sister(Arts and Social Science)was effected in the 2003/2004 academic year.
The Faculty from birth was endowed with a host of professors.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
(a) Candidates seeking for admission in our four year degree programme must possess an SSCE or General certificate of Education or their equivalent with at least five credit passes of which three must be Economics , Mathematics and English. In addition, candidates must haave acceptable passes in UME
(b) Candidates for Direct Entry admission(i.e three year programme) shall possess five credit passes in general certificate of Education or its equivalent of which at least two shall be in advanced level, provided such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination
PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION
The philosophy and mission underlying the programmes of the Faculty of social science is to produce graduates imbued with the ability to understand and make contribution to the global advancement achieved through development of the Nigerian community. This is to be achieved by equipping the them with a broad foundation and specialized knowledge in the general field of social science and also to prepare them to mee the human resources needs of a developing society and develop in them entrepreneurial knowledge,a sense of public responsibility and a spirit of self reliance
