BRIEF HISTORY OF FACULTY OF NATURAL & APPLIED SCIENCE
The Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences (FN&AS) was established in October, 2001 alongside the inception of the University. At inception, the Faculty started with four academic departments namely: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematical Sciences and Physics. In October 2002, the department of Geography and Geology & Mining came on-board. The department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was established as the latest department in October, 2006 but department of Geography was later moved to Faculty of Social Sciences in 2008. FN&AS has expanded greatly over the past years in its attempt to meet the challenges of both teaching and research. Postgraduate work has taken off in the departments of Biological Sciences, chemistry, Geology & Mining and Mathematical Sciences. Masters degree holders have earlier been produced but recently in year 2009, one PhD holder was produced in the faculty.
