THE FACULTY OF ARTS
HISTORY
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences was established in October 2001 when the University took off. A year after, the Faculty was splited into two. The Faculty of Arts emerged from the exercise as an autonomous Faculty with the following departments: English, History, Languages and Linguistics.The Department of Religious Studies was later added to the Faculty programmes. The Department has the following programmes: Christian Studies, Islamic Studies and Arabic. Arabic Language was later merged with Languages & Linguistics Department. The latest addition to the Faculty is the introduction Mass Communication, which is a semi-autonomous section within the department of English. The Faculty, since its inception, has continued to contribute to the growth of the University by servicing other Faculties especially in the General Studies Unit and the Faculty of Education.
The Faculty is geared towards promoting scholarship and becoming the heartbeat of scholarship in this University.
