ACADEMIC PLANNING
Historical Background
The Academic Planning Diviion existed since the inception of the university. It is headed by a director, and other principal officers; deputy director, a statistician and an Academic Planning Officer.
Academic Planning so far The Division oversees every plan in the university and ensures that every new record is brought to book. It also feeds the Vice Chancellor with all planning matters as spelt out in the mission statement
Academics is the primary source and so the Division constitutes the heart of the university. All other personnel and facilities are supportive. Planning therefore starts with faculties, their proposals for academic activities and their requirements in terms.
Mission Statement The Division was established with the following unified objectives; * Govern the activities of academic planning * To assist as well as advice the Vice Chancellor on development of academic planning * To build a data bank comprising statistics of academic activities particularly with respect to students and staff * To compute the Full-Time Equivalent(FTE) of full-time and part-time students * To make all projects with respect to the university academic development. * To initiateother relevant matters that will be related to academic activities of the university. * To undertake researches approprite to the fulfillment of the aforementioned objectives * To prepare the yearly university statistical data and digest.
* To prepare the University Academic calender, Lecture and examination time-tables * To prepare statistical data of qualified students for tertiary institutions by gender and agee so as to guide the university in allocating hostel accomodation and other facilities * To inform the Government about useful programmes and the means of bringing them to reality.
